CHARLESTON, SC CRUISE PLANNED FOR JUNE 19-21

P/C Dan Bartell and P/C Lorenzo Johnson will serve as cruise captains for this adventure. The initial plan is to depart the local area on the morning of June 19 and travel 6+ hours at 30mph to Charleston’s The Harborage at Ashley Marina which is a large, professionally managed marina capable of accommodating vessels up to 150 feet in length. The marina consists of approximately 230 wet slips and is located in historic downtown Charleston. Among Ashley Marina's amenities is a courtesy shuttle to take transients to and from many of downtown Charleston's most popular attractions. We will stay overnight on the 19th and 20th (and optionally on the 21st) and coming

  Following the ICW southbound you will approach the Ben Sawyer Swing Bridge (Vertical Clearance: 31 ft mhw) at SM 462.2. Continue down the waterway keeping an eye toward for F1 G 4s 4M “125” at the south end of Sullivan’s Island. You will fork northwest with the Sullivan’s Island Boat Landing to your Port. Upon approaching the harbor, you will want to head due west towards the Ashley River along the ICW. The Marina is Mile Marker 470 ICW on the Ashley River. The City of Charleston will be on your starboard, you will pass the Coast Guard Station, city marina, and pass under the Calhoun Street Fixed Bridge (Vertical Clearance: 55 ft. mhw). After passing under the bridge, The Harborage at Ashley Marina, is immediately to your starboard. The marina staff monitors: VHF 16 and working channel VHF 71 Dockhouse

  Lorenzo has stayed at the “Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Waterfront/Downtown”, which is a 10 minute walk from the docks. The marina provides a large courtesy van, driven by Citadel students that will provide transportation anywhere within the city limits. This location is close to all the downtown points of interest. Example dock fees at the Marina are $132 for the two nights for a 19 ft boat, and $154 for a 35 ft boat.
